Palette Knife Oil Painting

Hello! Posted above is my latest painting! I've never worked with oils before, so I decided I would start small. I only used a palette knife for this painting, so a great deal of texture was used to create the image. Hope you like it! :)

I'm finished with my first project! Here's my top layer of the pastel drawing. You can see how many of the bright hues were muted to create the final effect.

Posted above is a picture of my latest progress.  I'm beginning to mute the hues through the mixing of complementary colors, so I'm almost done!

Landscape Pastel Drawing - 2nd Layer

Posted above is the second layer of my latest pastel drawing! To build color and depth, red and green hues were added on top of the purple and yellow base layer.

Landscape Pastel Drawing

Currently, I am working on a pastel drawing of a water scene. I am using a complementary color layering technique to build up the complex colors within the drawing. For the base layer, I've used the complementary colors purple and yellow to block the light and dark values in the scene. A picture of this beginning step is posted above. After spraying a fixative onto the drawing, I will continue to build color by working around the color wheel.
