On certain occasions, I have to drive my younger sister who rides horses out to her barn in Fincastle, Va. All of the farms we pass on our drive are absolutely gorgeous! I did my final painting based off a picture that I took one day while driving through the area. Unlike some of most recent paintings, I completed this oil painting with a regular brush, not with a palette knife.

Canterbury Cathedral
Here is a picture of my latest work: a pastel of a walkway in Canterbury Cathedral, which is in Canterbury, UK. I based the image off of a picture I took while I was in England last summer with my choir. I did this pastel on black paper, rather than white watercolor paper that I have used with my past pastel drawings.

Second Layer of Pastel Drawing
Above is a picture of the second layer of my complementary color pastel drawing. I added the red and green hues to further define the shadows in this composition. At this point, I am about halfway finished, as my last step is to add the blue and orange hues and finalize all the colors. More to come soon!

Complementary Color Pastel Drawing- First Layer
In need of a quick break from oil, I decided to do another pastel drawing using the complementary color technique I used at the beginning of this year. Posted above is a picture of the preliminary layer using the complementary colors purple and yellow. After spraying a fixative, I will continue with red and green.
